oh yeah
I for one am officially and utterly pumped that this is finally out! Arctic Monkeys is one of the greatest bands out there! Now let's get some more stuff from the UK, shall we iTunes? Let's say some Ellie Goulding...? Please.
pretty good
well i think this EP is great but pretty much only for the deep arctic monkey listeners, for all those who are new to them i would recommend listening ot their albums first. This EP, like the others, are quite slow but once you listen to the tracks for a while youll appreciate it much more
Perfection As Usual
I've been waiting for this release for a while now and my anticipation was definitely satisfied. My Propeller is an excellent song to begin with, but it's always the B-Sides of Arctic Monkeys that seem to amaze me the most.
Joining The Dots is a dark, mysterious composition. I had first heard the acoustic version and fell in love with it. This version, I believe is even greater. It's a bit faster in tempo, but the guitar as well as keyboard pulls the song together. The distorted guitar adds to the ecentricity of the compilation. I love how it explodes at the chorus. 5/5
The Afternoon's Hat is an excellent song with a more upbeat, but at the same time dark melody. The bassline is phenomenal and the short guitar solo reminds me of something from Queens of the Stoneage (Josh Homme of course). It's different even from Humbug, and sounds reminiscent of late 60's early 70's rock songs. 5/5
Don't Forget Whose Legs You're On- Now the first thing that attracted me to this song was the title; it's so strange is it not? However, after listening to the song I have concluded that this EP may be their greatest yet. They've really been taking advantage of their bass this release as well as the guitar affects. The keyboard is also a standout as you hear it playing softly in the back seeming to draw you in. Turner's voice is outstanding in this one as he spins a tale with a debonair tone. Again, I must give this song 5/5 as well.
Now, we can't forget to credit Alex Turner with his magnificent lyrical ability. Like always, his way with words stands above even the strange guitar riffs, basslines, and rhythms, painting pictures as the songs continue on. All in all, this release was well worth the wait. Perfection in Arctic Monkeys form.
