iTunes Review

Consider the masked marauder of bastardized blues as two entities — one live and the other recorded. Obviously certain stage novelties like his one-man-band antics and audience participation are performances meant for the eyes more than the earbuds. But in the studio, adding innovative concepts to an age-old formula is what becomes Bob Log III the recording artist. His fourth studio album kickstarts on a foot stomping, lo-fi blues rocker. “Godd*m Sounds Good” recalls vintage Beck with slide guitar, hand clapping rhythms and vocals that sound like they’re coming from an old walkie-talkie. The throttle opens up on the faster “Mr. Sis Boom Bah,” a hyper hand-jive paced number rooted in fast pickin’ acoustic blues with breakneck arpeggios that keep up with speedy muted drumming and rapid vocal phrasing. Things get boiler-room weird in a Tom Waits junkshop style with “Bang Your Thing At the Ball,” a tipsy tune with scattered rhythms and detuned acoustic blues leads played on strings slacked to buzz randomly against the fretboard. My S**t Is Perfect would make a perfect soundtrack to a Hunter S. Thompson-inspired road trip.

BL III tearing it up once again (now with correct track listing)

First of all, the track names here are all jumbled but I figured them out, 95% sure this list is correct, please disregard if iTunes fixes this problem: 1. GD sounds good 2. Bump Pow! 3. Mr. Sis Boom Bah 4. Manipulate your Figments 5. My S**T is Perfect 6. You, or you and you, and me 7. It's the Law 8. Bumper Car 9. Bucktooth Potato 10. Bang your thing at the ball 11. Shake a little, wiggle it and Jiggle it too 12. Shinkasen the! 13. GD sounds good, pt. 2 This album doesn't really progress much from Bob's other 3 but who cares! This album has some more acoustic sounding guitar paired with his traditonal drums and drum machines. Best tracks are "It's the law", "Bang your thing at the ball", "Shinkasen The!", and "You, or you and you, and me." Despite sounding like his other albums Bob is such a talented and unique artist he still has you moving and bobbing your head to his delta-blues breakdowns. His picking is certainly more complex this time and with the acoustic sound you can clearly make out his blisteringly fast runs. Please keep it up Bob, Viva La Log III!

Tucson, AZ-based blues-punk primitive Bob Log III first surfaced a member of the art-noise group Mondo Guano, later serving as one half of the duo Doo Rag. While appearing in support of Ween, Doo Rag percussionist Thermos Malling abruptly quit the tour, leaving Log to finish out the remaining dates as a solo act; wearing his now-trademark motorcycle helmet onstage for protection from crowds, he proceeded to hone a cacophonous, Delta blues-inspired noise distinguished by Latin-styled drum machine...
