See people - this is real turntable music.

My expectations of turntable music are often rock bottom. Like many people, I hear music from all over the place that is uninspiring rehashes of 10 year old ISP tracks. So as soon as I put "My Soundstation" on, I realised that this was something way different. This is a musicians album - but together with great skill and love and taking influences from real music rather than having a heavy reliance on the digital domain. It's dirty, funky and designed to make you dig the music rather than wondering how Teeko pulled of a particular cut. See people - this is real turntable music.
I'm not going to rattle on at great length about the intricacies of the sound creation as that's not what I'm about. Music isn't about facts, it's about feeling and all I can tell you is that I feel good when I listen to this. I hear all kinds of sounds in the music - heavy funk as witnessed on "43 Swing", R&B and Jazz in "Sonic Sunrise" and Jazz in "Masked Mombler" - but I'm sure the listener will draw their own conclusions about influences themselves.
An interesting observation - I don't believe I've heard a single aaaah, beep, fresh or any other standard scratch noise on the entire album.
For a debut album, this is outstanding. All I'm hearing is briliant music. In the same way that Noisy Stylus's "Table Manners" get non-stop rotation in the skratchlab, "My Soundstation" is an essential PURCHASE for anyone who fancies funk made for DJs. A landmark release - no doubt.
