iTunes Review

You can’t help being in awe of All Things Must Pass — and that’s not a reference to its God-centered content. In both its ambition and substance, George Harrison’s 1970 solo debut is genuinely magnificent. With the dust from his years with the Beatles barely settled, Harrison composed a brace of superbly-crafted pop/rock/folk tunes, then enlisted Phil Spector to heighten their impact with his patented Wall of Sound production. The pleasures found here are abundant and enduring. Tracks like “What Is Life,” “Awaiting On You All,” and the thunderous “Wah-Wah” unleash glorious avalanches of guitars, drums and horns. Harrison displays his more subdued, countrified side on “Apple Scruffs,””Behind That Locked Door,” and a graceful version of Dylan’s “If Not For You.” Songs like “Beware of Darkness,””Isn’t It A Pity,” and the title tune ruminate upon fear and suffering with a minimum of preachiness. And, of course, there’s “My Sweet Lord,” no less transporting to hear with the knowledge that its melody was borrowed from “He’s So Fine.” Without a doubt, this mighty work lays claim to Harrison’s post-Beatles greatness.

The Greatest Beatle-solo album!

by Hairy Hand

If you only get one beatle solo album...without a doubt 'All Things Must Pass' is the one! The quantity of songs is here...but more importanly the qualirty! I bought this album back in 1980 when I was away at college. Although I eagerly anticipated dorm life, I was in a new environment...away from my family and friends. This album surprisingly became my support and inspiration. It was a crutial point in my life...and George became a part of it. I recently bought the 30th anniversary issue and was delightlfully surprised on the addition of the song 'I Live for You'. Although I'm a fan of all Fab solo albums, they all fall short next to this one. Sorry, Paul!

George Harrison's masterful solo album.

This is George's best solo album, hands down. You have to listen to it, the sound he produces on this album is beautiful.

What a wonderful album!

All glories to George Harrison for bolding going beyond the pop world sterotypes by directly calling out to his sweet Lord and encouraging us all to chant His holy names. It took George a lot of guts to do this, but he did it, and then it become a huge hit. Who could have predicted that this would happen? The "spiritual Beatle" did a great service for the suffering humanity by reminding us all to reconnect with that Supreme Person, who is the very source of our existence. I purchased this album back in 1970 when it was first released on vinyl. And then with a little help from my friend George in the following year I fully dedicated my life in the service of Krishna. I can never forget and stop appreciating George for the wonderful encouragement he gave me. I recommend to the George Harrision aficianados that if they haven't heard his live performance of "My Sweet Lord" on his "Live in Japan" album, they should do so. He sings "My Sweet Lord" on that album with even more intensity of feelings than he does on this album. And when you hear the roar from the huge audience in appreciation of George you will feel great satisfaction.
