iTunes Review

Narrowing down a career this vast and expansive is asking for trouble — or at least for some painful omissions. 26 years are condensed into 16 tracks with additional previously unreleased tracks produced by Rick Rubin — “The Saints Are Coming,” a cover of the 1970s Scottish punk band the Skids performed with Green Day, and a very arena rock U2-sounding “Window in the Skies” — several special edits (“Vertigo,” “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “Sweetest Thing”), and a bonus live disc from Milan in 2005 summing up the group to date. The live recordings prove the band haven’t lost any of their technological firepower, sounding as nuanced and committed as when they initially sprang from the gate at the onset of the 1980s. However, the emphasis here is on later U2, as All That You Can’t Leave Behind and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb are represented while October. Zooropa and Pop are not. But there’s no denying the anthemic, overwhelming majesty of “Pride (In the Name of Love),” “With or Without You,” and “New Year’s Day,” the brashy punk attitude of “Vertigo,” or the masterful tension of “One,” “Walk On” or “Mysterious Ways,’ which define an era as well as any.

No More "Album Only" Songs, Please!

by sffilmstagemusic

Good Evening: I don't get the concept anyway. How many will actually expend $9.99, $11.99 or more for the "privilege" of downloading 1-3 songs? How many more will not spend any money at all, instead borrowing the CD from the library or a friend, and then downloading the song(s) for free? If Apple can prove that 1 person will purchase an entire collection for let's say, every five who won't spend a dime, thereby making more money for the artist, fine. Show us the proof. But if only 1 person buys the entire collection for let's say, twenty people who won't spend a dime, the artist is actually making *less* money! I say, unbind all songs and let's see which scenario is proven true.

Ok first Off

people will only buy this if they are just getting into the group, which is alright, but I suggest rather you get achtung baby, the Joshua tree, or how to dismantle an atomic bomb, which in my opinion is u2's best work, which leads my to my next point, that almost everyone has all of there music already, ITUNES! Everyone wants the saints are coming but theres no studio version here besides the one your making us pay $11 for! Its simple: take the songs 17-28 and make them as an EP, sell them induvidualy, make them all 0.99, then sell 1-16 indivualy all for 0.99, and make the album 9.99!

shame on apple and U2 for their greed

same as the others. rip off by apple/itunes. greed is bad karma. abusing the loyalty of fans to rake in money is bad business and leaves a bad feeling. so many other things done well by apple. tsk tsk
