Album Review
Nine Inch Nails and Ministry usually get all the credit for introducing industrial music to the masses during the early '90s. But another group that had been championing the style for just as long — actually, longer — was Skinny Puppy. While the two aforementioned bands had obvious hard rock leanings, Skinny Puppy always aligned themselves more with electro-dance, and they continue to do so on their 13th release overall, 2007's Mythmaker. Longtime leaders Nivek Ogre and cEvin Key obviously know what their following wants to hear, as synth clicks/blips and processed vocals remain the group's main sonic ingredients, especially on such selections as the album-opening "magnifishit," "daL," and "politikiL." Not a lot has changed in the world of Skinny Puppy circa Mythmaker, but that's just the way Ogre and Key like it.

even better
Mythmaker was different from skinny puppy's older albums, and some would say thats a bad thing, but I honestly like this album better than most of their old stuff.
A big shift, but incredibly strong
Mythmaker represents a big shift for Puppy, probably only really discernible to Puppy fanatics (like me). If you are looking for Too Dark Park or Last Rights, this album may be an initial let down, but give it some time to grow on you. On my first listen I distinctly thought to myself "OhGr + Download <> Skinny Puppy!", speaking to how this album does feel more like a combo of their individual solo projects than "true Skinny Puppy". But I have since changed that perspective. This album is so powerful and emotive, especially songs like Pasturn and Haze, that it really moves the listener. I absolutely love this album now and count it as one of Skinny Puppy's best. Very excited to see where they evolve to next...
Great
I really like they're new stuff alot better than their old albums (too dark to park, 12 inch anology,) though rabies it a classic this is probley they're the 3rd best album released by cEvin (in my oponoin) Long live skinny puppy creator of industrial
