The Pirate Signal Are What Hip-Hop Should Be

These guys came to San Francisco on February 1st, and 2nd and blew me away. This is the new face of Hip-Hop. Everyone in the crowd was completely blown away by the incredible compositional techniques put into the beats, the larger than life stage presence by MC Yonnas, the turntablism of DJ AWHAT!, and fresh perspective all Hip-Hop heads have been waiting for for a long time. I bought this album at their show and it instantly became one of my crew's favorite albums.

COP THIS!!

In 2006-2007 it really seemed like Denver might be the next stop to start hand picking artists to move up into the national spot light, with so many talented young artists collaberating and working together on various projects, it really began to look good for the Denver scene. but just as quick as it showed life it burned to the ground. One group that manages to thrive still to this day, is The Pirate Signal. "The Name of this Band is The Pirate Signal" is an instant classic and should be an essential part of any avid underground hip hop fan collection. Beat maker and lyricist Yonnas Abraham is now living in Brooklyn NYC where he continues to work on his music. The Pirate Signal is sure to one day be a household name, but in the meantime show em that you know something about unsigned artists. This album will bring you years of satisfaction. -Faint Sinatra

This is Good Stuff!

Honestly, if you're a fan of the changes that Kanye West brought to the genre over the years, then you owe it to yourself to continue your journey as Yonnas and the Pirate Signal carve out another road less travelled. Hip Hop with no boundaries is what the music is about and these guys definately fit the bill. The single "Go!" is a triumph of spirit and can also be seen in video form (youtube)...while "The Emergence of Black Heroes" featuring D.O. The Fabulous Drifter, is uplifting and catchy. You never know, it just might go down now! Also, look for the joint "Jiggle It" off their mixtape--ladies love it, and its not even from Cool James! Fans of 3Oh!3 already know the name...its time you did too! DTM
