Amazing!
If you like female singer songwriters, then you can't go wrong with this album, everything about it is perfect. Xan and her musical partner Hugo have crafted a genre defying masterpiece.
If you're looking for something original and new, this is it.
Outstanding genre bending innovation and musicianship
It's difficult to pin down an accurate comparison for SolBurst, but that isn't at all a bad thing in this case. The bass work sounds as if it might have been done by Stanley Clarke, the arrangement by Tommy Guerero, and the closest paralell I can draw vocally is Esperanza Spalding- but it tends toward Hip/Hop as often as Jazz/Soul. The lyrics are socially concious without ever being preachy, and sexy without ever having to be explicit. A fantastic buy for anyone interested in R&B, Soul, Jazz, or Hip/Hop. It may be hard to classify, but SolBurst is anything but hard to listen to.
