Clarkson returns angrier than ever
The reigning princess of pop/rock returns after a year of keeping quiet with "Never Again." Kelly Clarkson picks up where she left off with "Walk Away," her fourth (or fifth, depending on how you look at it) single from her sophomore album 'Breakaway' - only the anger has been re-agitated after it had already simmered. "Never Again," the first single off of Clarkson's next album 'My December,' is another account of Clarkson's bitterness after a break-up in "Behind These Hazel Eyes" fashion. In fact, it is a mesh between "Eyes" and "Since U Been Gone" in terms of its musical style. The chorus is a little less catchy than some of her earlier hits, but it isn't bad at all. The bridge is where the song picks up in intensity, as Clarkson's haunting vocals materialize the pain that she is feeling. Though "Never Again" will surely be another automatic #1 for Clarkson, it is possible that she may be losing her steam as an angry rocker chick. Only time will tell if Clarkson's latest material will rocket her to the top, or perhaps she may "never again" reach that peak.
Best track of 2007 to date !!!
Kelly channels Pat Benatar in this rocker track, filled with angst and emotion against her cheating lover and his new wife. The first verse is an bitter set against her ex-boyfriend (rumoured to be David Hodges) with the building guitars to the climax of the powerful chorus. The second verse, less bitter and more snarky at the new wife "If she really knows the truth, he deserves you. A trophy wife, oh how cute ! Ignorance is bliss but when your day comes and he'll be through with you". The chilling chorus is followed by a painful crying chorus "Never again will I kiss you, never again will I want to you, never again will I love you...." with a final chorus. One of my favourite tracks in the past 5 years and well done by Ms. Clarkson.
Pure Genius!
Kelly is back and she's done it again! This song is so different than anything she has done before, not to mention anything that is on the radio...keep an eye out for all the copycat performances in the months to come. Definitely check out this beautifully sung girl-scorned summer anthem. NOW!
