Superb...That's all...
I will start by saying I am hardly impartial, I pre-ordered the vinyl/digital combo on the No Sleep Records web store the second that I heard about this release, knowing emphatically that it would not disappoint. This EP has surpassed those expectations, if possible! I adore La Dispute, and while I have not previously listened to Koji with any regularity, I will certainly be taking a look into his back catalogue and future releases.
Now to the point, this amalgamation is meant to be a meeting in the middle of sorts between Koji's more laid back acoustic sound and the more urgent sound of La Dispute and Jordan's driving vocals. The result is simply superb and hard to put into words. If you enjoy either one of these bands, or simply great music, this EP is a must. This album is rife with emotion and heart to spare.
La Dispute is unabashed in their ability to scale down the gain and Jordan's throat singing, as they have displayed in their Here, Hear series of releases. They demonstrate this knack with greater proficiency and dexterity than prior releases by presenting two supremely well-realized songs that do not disappoint.
The final track "Biomusicology" by Koji is a superb journey that he leads you along with his acoustic guitar and calming vocals to several soundscapes, simply arranged, yet vivid and bright, swelling and subsiding into each other seamlessly (I listened to this song several times on repeat the first time I heard it).
I am an extremely satisfied customer.
MMMMMMMM
Has La Dispute ever disappointed anyone? Ever? For real.. Do they have any song that is not good? Yea didnt think so haha.
Last blues is remix of "last blues for bloody knuckles" both of these songs are on the softer side.. with more emphasis on the lyrics then anything but they do not disappoint. And i hear whispers of their new album coming soon!!!!
Koji Rocks!!!!!!
Koji your one of my favorite artists keep it it up and cant wait for your next cd!!!!!!!!!!
