Melancholic and Beautiful
Another great score from Rachel. I haven't seen the movie yet but I have a feeling that once I see it, I will like the music even more. I love the melancholic piano and strings-driven scores, similar to Josh Kramer's "Beginnings" and Nico Muhly's "The Reader"- both must haves for any film score fans.

A British born (December 11, 1960 in Haslemere) composer, Rachel Portman's biggest claim to fame was being the first woman to win an Academy Award (an Oscar, that is) for Best Original Score. The award, which came about due to her work for the film Emma in 1996, wasn't her only chance at the coveted prize, as she continued her streak of well-respected and well-received works by earning nominations in 1999 and 2000 for Cider House Rules and Chocolat, respectively.
