A Serene Flower Blossoms
When I see a time manipulated motion image of a flower opening, blooming, or closing I am amazed at how much motion takes place over a great period of time. It’s the subtle patient motion that amounts to a new and different pose and purpose of the plant. The serene sound of “New Life Dreaming” contains a lot of changes, but you hardly sense them until those changes have already taken hold. Zap through these cuts on your iTunes player and notice the changes that take place from one minute to three minutes later. For me it’s like watching a time lapsed film of a flower’s movement. This isn’t anything new on a Roach release, but each title is like a different flower. Such pleasing harmonic aromas and dazzlingly beautiful gradients of color from the core emanate from the stem of “New Life Dreaming”. Please take an hour out of your day and listen to this new collection then explore more titles in the garden of Roach’s discography available from the iTunes music store.
An Elegant Masterpiece!
I have been listening to this "CD" for a few weeks now, and I think this is Roach's best ambient work in a while. Of course, I was drawn to it for its reference to his historic Deamtime Return, a CD that blew me away when I got it only 3 years ago. I told people it was ultimate "bathtub music". Just crank it up, lite candles and float away!. I have been using much of his music for massage sessions for years now and it is tops! It truly takes clients to another level! Take it from me, someone who owns nearly 20 of his CDS and plans to have them all (along with Robert Rich), this New LIfe is Steve at his best! 5 tracks that have that soothing "blue "quality ala Dreamtime Return. A nice change from his darker explorations. Words can't decribe the complexity of sound that he works with. Perfect Dream is an under-stated opener. The Ancients Way is wonderful as he brings in an exquisitely treated drumtrack midway through. The experience is like walking arduously across a beautiful landscape or dessert, taking effort, yet so enthralling and worth the journey. Here he confirms the "seeking quality" much of his music is known for. Deep Sky Time has a psychedelic quality that definitley lives up to its title! And saving the best for last, Eye of Noche surprises with its other-worldly vocal track. Otherworldy is not accurate though, as it simply takes you deeper into this New Life Dreaming. Perfect for chilling at sunset! Overall, the conciseness and execution of the working concepts make this a master stroke! Bravo Steve!! Thanks for taking us back!
If you like space music...
...it doesn't get any better than "Deep Sky Time," coincidentally the only track you can purchase individually. But get the whole album, and let yourself completely get lost in all of it and float away into outer space. This is a fantastic soothing ambient journey.
