Will Stratton: Troubadour Extraordinaire
I've been listening to Will's music for a couple years now, and each time he produces something new, I am surprised. Narrowing him down to a single genre or style is to box him in unfairly. He has so many individual sounds, but they are all distinctly, recognizably Will. His music is constantly developing, progress you can easily follow through all his albums. "New Vanguard Blues" seems almost like the goal he's been working toward; it has the best of everything Will can do: haunting melodies, intricate guitar work, and great songwriting. Stratton's lyrics are poetry; his rhyming is subtle, not too obvious. You almost have to listen for it, or you'll miss it, which isn't a bad thing because you're probably too busy being drawn into the images he produces for you (for me, most noticeable in "El Capitan"). Will is more than just a songwriter; he's a storyteller, a troubadour, an artist. Keep 'em coming!
Accessible for all
If you're on pins and needles about getting this album, DO IT. You will fall in love with the complicated guitar work that melts your heart with its melodies. Buy it and you will fall forever in love with Will Stratton.
Can he get any better?
I just started listening to Will Stratton about 3 months ago. I have LOVED every single one of his albums. (And it's hard to please me. Cause I'm picky with what I listen to) I didn't think he could get any better. And then this album came out. I am WOWED. Every single track is my favorite. Not kidding. I am in love with this album. His voice is SO calming, but not boring. At. All. His voice is so crisp, and clean. I love it! MUCH better than ANYTHING Disney could ever offer. ;)
Oh, by the way, I'm 15. :P
