Thank you, John and itunes!

Finally, itunes is making some good choices. I'm EXTREMELY impressed that they put this album on here. and they also made most of the Red Hot Chili Peppers bonus tracks non-album-only! so thank you very much itunes, i'm proud of you. and also thank you John Frusciante for letting them add this cd, and creating this wonderful music in the first place. On to the actual album. this would probably not be the place to start if you are new to john's solo music, because this was recorded in his heroin days... it's not polished and certainly doesn't sound like anything you have ever heard before. but if you're already a john fan, hit the "buy" button without delay! The raw beauty in this album is amazing, really too amazing to put into words. so just listen, and see for yourself. and if you're a newcomer, don't forget to come back and buy this at some point, after you've listened to and appreciated a few of john's other incredible cds!

Some of Frusciante's best work

Before listening to this album it's important to keep the following in mind: do not go into this album believing it will sound like anything from Red Hot Chili Peppers or any of John's recent works, because it does not. This album is very lo-fi and lauded with drug addiction. This is not John's best or worst, but his most crazed album. It is dark and haunting in some moments (My Smile Is A Rifle, Blood On My Neck), but it's not an uncomforting type of dark music. It's very artistic and requires a lot of opening up in the mind. John himself said at the time that RHCP fans would only understand it if "their heads are capable of tripping out". I was surprised to see this album on iTunes, now if only they could add Smile From The Streets You Hold...

glad its on itunes because people need to experience this

this changed my life
