Released four years after his 1994 debut Seeing Is Believing, Nicht von Dieser Welt was the breakthrough album from German R&B star Xavier Naidoo. Featuring the singles "20,000 Meilen," "Fuhr Mich Ans Licht," and the Martin Luther King-sampling "Freisein," it also includes collaborations with Sabrina Setlur, Moses Pelham, and Illmatic, alongside cover versions of David Bowie's "This Is Not America" and Herbert Grönemeyer's "Flugzeuge im Bauch." ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Yes....all I can say
Xavier Naidoo, not only an inspiration but also a musical prodigy, has once again captivated his audience in a charming and real series of songs on "Nicht von dieser Welt". A man with a way with words, his voice enchants the soul. His music makes one think. His music makes one relax. So, in normal 21st century terms, "XAVIER NAIDOO ROCKS!".
Anyone with a love of the beautiful German language will be impressed by his emotional lyrics and his strategic placement of words, all enveloping into one pristine masterpiece. Xavier Naidoo is music, the essence of soul and heart. He speaks from within, and pours it out in perfect harmony.
Songs I would recommend include 20.000 Meilen, Nicht von dieser Welt, Koennt ihr mich hoeren, Seid ihr mit mir, Unter die Haut, Sag es laut (the best song) and Seine Strassen.
Five stars.

Einfach das Beste
I bought this as an import CD at Tower Records in 1998. It is an amazing mix of melody with hip hop woven in and out. Naidoo's voice soars in the piano ballad, "Sag es laut" – an easy song to learn the lyrics to if you're trying to improve your German. "Könnt ihr mich hören?" has an early Depeche Mode backdrop and "Freisein" samples MLK. The lyrics are dark but never cynical, angry but never bitter. My release ends with the positive "Sag es laut:" Sag es laut Wenn du mich liebst Sag es laut Dass du mir alles gibst Sag es laut Dass ich alles für dich bin Sag es laut Denn danach steht mir der Sinn Hörst du was ich sage Spürst du was ich fühl Hörst du meine Frage Weißt du was ich will Es wird dir nichts passier'n Kein Finger dich berühr'n Ich werde Ketten sprengen Trennt man mich von dir Mein Blut mit Eisen mengen Deine Flamme brennt in mir Ich werde immer hören Was dein Herz zu meinem sagt Vor tausend Engelschören Hab ich dich gefragt Perhaps other fans of Naidoo can let us know from where tracks 15 - 17 were lifted. This release is THE CD that opened my eyes to the amazing music being produced in Germany in the last decade.
To beautiful to miss
I'm truly hoping that his disc's comes with translations. His voice is wonderful, the musical arrangements are superb. I can't understand a word, but it makes me what to learn german.
