iTunes Review

Prior to Night Work, the NYC quintet had written, tracked and tossed out 18 months of in-the-can recordings that the band felt were mediocre compared to preceding albums. But returning to the drawing board later with better ideas and producer Stuart Price (New Order, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Missy Elliott, etc.) helped Scissor Sisters redo the album. The title-track confidently opens with sleek ‘80s aplomb, invoking Berlin (the band). “Whole New Way” shifts gears sounding a bit inspired by Culture Club, which may be in part due to some guest vocals by Helen Terry, who sang with Boy George and company back in the day. And of course no Scissor Sisters album would be complete without some dance-floor smashes like “Any Which Way,” which boasts a Studio 54-friendly bass-line and a Kylie Minogue vocal cameo alongside Shears crooning sexy double entendres in a Bee Gees-esque falsetto. Sir Ian McKellen makes a random guest appearance on “Invisible Light,” a neo-disco ballad that begs for fog machines and lasers. Bonus tracks offer tasty remixes of “Fire With Fire” and “Invisible Light.”

Found a Whole New Way to love you!

Different sound than the last two Sisters albums and when i first played this i thought it was going to be the kind of album that would take a few listens to grow on me. After the first song and a half i realized i was so wrong and found myself dancing through my house and somehow managed to singing along!!! Now i cant hear it enough! Absolutely love this album!!!

I'm running with scissors!

Scissor Sisters is back and better than ever! Night Work is absolutely fantastic. The songs are so catchy and i feel their long hiatus was worth it. i'm in love again!

lmfao

A genre- and gender-defying mix of rock, pop, and dance inspired by burlesque, drag queens, and glam rock, New York's Scissor Sisters made a splash in late 2003/early 2004 with their neon-bright reimagining of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," the B-side to the band's first single, "Electrobix." The song made quite a name for the band, which featured singers Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, keyboardist/bassist Babydaddy, guitarists Del Marquis and Derek G, and drummer Paddy Boom: along with becoming...
