a creepfest of music

i love this sound track. steven jablonsky has captured the balance between tragedy and terror in "a nightmare on elm street". it's steven jablosnky's redemption after his much delay of his "friday the 13th" soundtrack, but his unique visionary musical ear is what brings him back to the top. A MUST HEAR!

Meh

Allow me to get this out of the way: Steve Jablonsky'e score for this reimaginging is leaps and bounds to what Charles Bernstein did in the original. That being said, it does not necessarily mean that its great. In more simple terms, the score suffers from the sad case of "bland score syndrome," and those who are film soundtrack buffs know exactly what I'm tallking about. Sure, there are some scary tropes spread throughout the score, but not enough to keep us on the edge of our seats. Really, I don't mean to be snooby at, but the overall score lacked a certain quality that would make the listener just sqarm in their seats to the point where you feel those razors diging into your arm. Though Jablonsky's aim was there, the execution in my opition well short of the what was intended.

This is supposed to be a "reimagining" of one of the great horror films not a mere refabircation or rehash of the original and the score should perfectly embody that. Freddy's theme sounds like a rip off of the Jaws theme. The mood of the entire soundtrack felt that it wasn't pushing the envelope enough as far as firmly establishing a true sense of menace and suspicion amongst the Springwood community.

Other than that, this was a fair score at best. Nothing great or memorable here. Looking foward to the movie though. 3/5

Great Soundtrack!!

Without having seen the movie yet only the trailers and TV Spots, this soundtrack is GREAT. Track 17 reminds me of a track from the ORIGINAL ANOES Score Soundtrack called "Laying The Traps," from how both have mainly drums and guitar riffs to them. Can't wait until April 30th.
