iTunes Review
Like its punk-pop heroes, Green Day delivers the goods with such seeming ease that it feels as if they aren’t even trying. But a sweet, catchy tune like “Nice Guys Finish Last” doesn’t appear on anyone else’s album and after two decades of punk rock, Green Day manages to find a way to keep itself energized with the creative fires burning. All successful bands are threatened by an overexposure that’s out of their control. The best a band can do is diversify and try new approaches. Which Green Day does within its own punk parameters. “Hitchin’ a Ride” adds a trudge. “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” goes acoustic with strings and became a huge hit. “King for a Day” adds horns and a quick-stepping beat. “Last Ride In” serves as a south-of-the-border surf instrumental. “Redundant” is about as close as punks like to come to a ballad. These mild diversions widen the trio’s scope, but the heart of the band can still be heard in the straightforward propulsion of “The Grouch” and “Scattered.” Green Day’s appeal is so simple, it makes one question how can it be so?

new sound
This album is where green day's sound started to change from the pre dookie era to the evolved sound u get in American Idiot. i think this is green day's best album, because u get the sounds u would expect from older green day, and ur getting some of their newer music in there too. if ur just starting out on green day, this is a good album to start with. it'll show u the sounds of both eras of music by green day.
Brilliant beyond words can describe!
This album is on here twice, I dunno why, but here's a review of all the songs: 1. Nice Guys Finish Last - 9 Awesome song, one of the singles 2. Hitchin' a Ride - 9½ Another great single, fun to headbang to :) 3. The Grouch - 10 One of the best songs on the album, definetly get this one 4. Redundant - 8½ A love song, a bit slower than the rest, this one was a single too 5. Scattered - 9½ I love the lyrics, makes me cry 6. All the Time - 10 Another amazing song 7. Worry Rock - 10 Very catchy, another 10 8. Platypus - 9 This song is pop-punk-metal, very cool, only Green Day could pull that off 9. Uptight - 10 Another one of my faves, irresistibly catchy 10. Last Ride In - 9 Just instrumental, but it's really cool, reminds me of Hawaii... 11. Jinx - 9 A transitional song, the second part is Haushinka 12. Haushinka - 8½ A little redundant 13. Walking Alone - 10 Great song, the harmonica makes it sound really awesome 14. Reject - 10 Pure brilliance, I'm sure you know what it's about, another 10 15.Take Back 8½ Another pop-punk-metal song, BJ's voice is growly in the chorus 16. King for a Day - 9½ A live favorite, this one has horns 17. Good Riddance - 9½ Ah the legendary GR, considered to be one of their best, I like it better live 18. Prosthetic Head - 8 My least favorite on the album, but still really good BUY IT NOW!
