Only For the Fans
The music on this album deserves 4, maybe 5, stars, but the album, itself, warrants only 3. As the previous reviewer said, this should only be purchased if you are a die-hard fan of all things NINE. For me, this album made a nice companion to the soundtrack album, and I am currently making a master playlist to include the musical numbers from the soundtrack album, and the underscore selections from this album.
That said, I am NOT a fan of this trend to release a "soundtrack" album of songs from/inspired by a movie, and to release a second "score" album containing bits and pieces of underscoring used throughout a movie. Isn't all of that a movie's "soundtrack"? If so, why are we being forced to purchase two separate discs/digital albums to enjoy ALL of a movie's music? It's a sick trick the record companies/movie production companies are playing on the fans, and I hope they realize, soon, that this pointless trend needs to stop.
I like the music well enough...
... but it's not even 15 minutes worth of music. If I were not a die hard fan of 'NINE' I would have passed.
