Latin pop superstar Luis Miguel has always reliably delivered the goods when it comes to romantic ballads, from Spanish-language standards to his own modern spin on boleros and mariachis. But he’s perhaps lesser known to club music audiences, who are often less focused on lyrical content than high-octane fuel for the dancefloor. No Culpes a La Noche ("Don’t Blame the Night"), marries the singer’s prodigious talent for song with bumping club grooves from veteran producers such as Hex Hector and Danny Saber, and newcomers Rocasound and Arena. While the beats are far from cutting-edge, mining familiar Latin house and filter house styles from the late-‘90s, they’re largely unobtrusive and frame Miguel’s persuasive vocals nicely.
