A Great Find!
Sometimes when I listen to Melissa Forbes, I imagine this is the Smooth Jazz vocal record the late Eva Cassidy might have made. There are many moments on this disc that raise the hair on the back of the neck the way Ms. Cassidy could. This is an artist with a deep and wide-ranging talent, who can touch you with subtlety and sweetness one minute, then raise the roof Gospel-style the next. Highlights include "Broken Wing" ( a dedication to the late Chet Baker, whose fans will recognize his title "You Can't Go Home Again" included in her lyric). "Thinking You Over" will sound immediately familiar to fans of Vanessa Williams and "Shadows Of Love" strikes me as a bona-fide Smooth Jazz hit. Don't miss the closing track "As I Sing", which is sung gorgeously and features the other-worldly violin playing of Paula Newcomb. All this done in three days! Quite impressive. Can't wait to hear what she does next!
The Voice Of An Angel
This album is fantastic. A true work of art. This album was created with true jazz lovers in mind. Her voice is so soulfull and angelic. She is truely a great work of art. The entire album is a hit! Keep making great music.
Absolutely amazing
Found Melissa on GarageBand.com and was ecstatic to find her CD here. There is something here for everyone, from "Blackheart Blues" where she magically mixes a great jazz beat with vocals that bring a Aretha to mind to "Thinking You Over" where the jazz simply flows over you. A fantastic combination of powerful vocals, top-notch song writing and a polished sound makes "No More Mondays" a must have.
