Lamplight is a MUST buy album!!
I first came across Katie Costello's music by chance as I was clicking through singer/songwriter recommendations in my iTunes a couple years ago. She is one of my BEST itunes finds in a long time. Costello's voice has an incredibly distinct and beautiful sound that can be picked out anywhere. If the gorgeous vocals and melodies aren't enough, take a listen at the actual lyrics of her music. The lyrics are simple, but incredibly profound, and certainly beyond the scope of most lyrics that are released these days.
If you're unsure whether to take a risk and buy a full album of an artist you don't really know, BUY IT. Seriously, first time listening is getting acquainted with her unique sound and style; second time listening is identifying which of the songs particularly draw you in; third time listening is when you realize just how hooked on her music you already are. I guarantee Costello will be making a name for herself very soon, especially in the singer/songwriter genre. Why not get ahead of the game and just buy Lamplight now?
The Song "Stranger" is Deeply Poetic
I found Katie Costello from the episode "Stag Hunt" from Switched At Birth. They played this song on the last few minutes of the episode and I looked up the artist and I love this song. Katie Costello's lyrics and tone on this are amazing! I hope she continues to write song lyrics with this kind of passion. Two Thumbs Up.
More wattage than just a lamp!
Katie's voice and songwriting ability is a powerful force. This album is overwhelming proof of that. "Stranger" is quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs I've heard. Ever. And I listen to a lot of music. Her songs have poetic depth of thought laced through, and her musical expression of them is stunning. I think Katie is a songwriter, poet, philosopher, and darling pixie mixed into one glorious messenger of music for us.
