Gentry Bronson Reveals his Brilliance

     

In his second non-instrumental solo album, Gentry Bronson has found a formula that works, and suceeded in ways that "Home" did not. For the first time Bronson has adroitly backed his incomparable piano playing and impassioned vocals with guitar and drums; sometimes subtly (as in "Shine" and "Song About You") and sometimes not so subtly (as in "Heads on Fire" and "What Happened you Your God"). Arguably the most moving and powerful songs in the album, the piano-driven "Shine" and "Wish it Would Rain" somehow manage to attain all the energy and galvanizing quality of hard rock, without the use of electric guitar. You will find yourself singing along to the chorus of the latter (the former as well, if you can sing that high), belting out the simple yet inspiring words: "Sometimes I just just wish it would rain. Rain on you and me. Rain all over the dry, dry, ground..." The various songs of the album are similar enough to, together, produce a coherent and stirring work of art, and yet disparate enough to keep you surprised with each new track. There is only one word that can truly describe this masterpiece: "Magnificent".
