iTunes Review

The Cave Singers continue their roots music deconstructions on their third release, only this time they pull out the guitar amps, get gritty, and flesh out their sound. No Witch begins with “Gifts and the Raft” and “Swim Club,” two acoustic gems that feature memorable fiddle and viola hooks and which would have fit in well on their first two albums. From there things take an unexpectedly dark and muscular turn. “Black Leaf” is edgy and snarling; “Falls” boasts a hypnotic electric guitar riff, nimble drumming, and soulful organ fills; modal guitar and Eastern percussion propel the gauzy “Outer Realms” and “Faze Wave”; and the stomping closer, “No Prosecution If We Bail,” is a reminder that each of the three members cut their teeth in indie rock bands. Overall, the band sounds energetic and driven and Pete Quirk’s raspy vocals are as strong and assured as ever. Textured and eclectic, No Witch signals a thrilling new direction for the band.

Another Great Album

Now my 6 disc changer is 50% occupied by The Cave Singers. For best results crack a PBR, open the windows, turn the lights down and turn the volume up...now that's refreshing.

The best group i

look, i'm perhaps, a little jam-bandy, but these guys rock er' out. in case you didnt realize this yet, the best music takes a couple spins, before you're singing along. give these guys a chance, any album... spin it five times.

Original.

In some ways like Welcome Joy,but with a new twist. Bluesy and tasteful. I recommend it if you like any other albums by them.

The former bassist and founding member of the successful indie rock group Pretty Girls Make Graves picked up an acoustic guitar and formed the Cave Singers following PGMG's demise in January 2007, teaming up with vocalist Pete Quirk (formerly of Hint Hint) and drummer Marty Lund (formerly of Cobra High).
