Album Review
The mystery is how a band that's only been together for one year managed not only to land Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger as a producer for its debut EP, but also to get legendary visual artist Alan Aldridge (who designed album art and posters for the likes of Cream, the Who, and the Beatles back in the day) to do the cover illustration. The fact of the debut itself isn't much of a surprise, though; it's pretty easy to see what got the labels so interested so quickly: Agent Sparks' songs jitter and flop around with an appealing blend of skronky noisiness and pop-smart structure, and their sound is simultaneously unique and timeless. You'll hear hints of the early Pixies in their charming mix of sonic chaos and straightforward hooks, and hints of X in the astringent boy-girl harmonies. But there's something sideways about their tunes and something desperate about the singing that sets them apart from their influences. Everything comes together most effectively on "Choke," the EP's fourth track and its most quickly comprehensible one, but spend a little time with the 12/8 rocker "It's Not My Time" and you'll be glad you did. The upcoming full-length album should be lots of good, messy fun. Recommended.

Lots of potential here!
It seems people have forgotten what good music is. Everything now is hip hop or emo(for those of you who don't know that is whiney white boy wannabee punk rock). Don't get me wrong I like some of that stuff but there are thousands of bands and groups that are all EXACTLY the same. It is past getting old. This is the type of artist that SHOULD be on the radio(as well as current great music like coldplay, audioslave etc..) I expect soon there will be a huge shift in music rebelling against the lack of original groups dominating the airwaves and I hope groups like this are at the forefront. Also I want to say though I am a fan of rock music I also appreciate all types. So don't confuse what I am saying with prejiduce or narrow mindness. I am a hge fan of groups of very different ethnicities. What I am saying is purely about orgininality and not carbon copying your group to become a version of the same exact thing thats been done over and over and over. I will step of my soap box now. Love this group though. Buy the album and delete a carbon copied group from your ipod today! JOIN THE REVOLUTION!
