punk is back! or on it's way...
finally. really, thank god. This is the stuff I grew up listening to. ten years ago in the summer of '99 i can recall tuning in to such songs on the local alternitve stations hoping my strict mother wouldn't overhear. the genre has sence fallen into the hands of much younger no-namers all with an anoying much less giutar-driven dancey sound that made my ears long for the sounds of my early teen years. with blink 182 back together, good charlotte going back to their "pop-punk roots", and greenday's album in the works, the genre made famous in the summers 99-03 is slowly climbng back up, and although it is mostly ran by "no-namers". New found Glory along with others, are not going anywhere, at least...not without a fight
If You Were Not Ok with Coming Home and Sorta Accepting of Catalyst
I'm going to come out and say it right away... Buy this. As an old school NFG fan, Nothing Gold... and Self Titled were my favorites. This album has brought me right back to those good ol' days. The first seven tracks have all the hooks, breakdowns and simple riffs that we came to love in those early days of NFG. The days when you were the first to introduce people to their music. The first seven tracks can be seen as almost a chronicle of NFG's early timeline. It's a brilliant mix of Nothing Gold... Self titled, and Catalyst. Mark Hoppus produced this so there are some recording and production signatures in here that smack of Blink's 2003 self titled. Tracks 7,8,9, kinda seem to be fillers on this album, but if you like the newer NFG this maybe right down your alley. In my opinion, NFG is back, and after years of waiting I finally have a new album of theirs to listen to the whole way through. Enjoy.
Don't Listen to the Review Thing From iTunes
Way back in the day when I first really got into music, it was NFG that pulled me in with the self-titled album. This album is by far one of their better. It is a draw back to their earlier stuff and yet still shows the maturity of the band as a whole. The beats remind me of the traditional New Found Glory Sound which I prefer to their newer stuff. The lyrics though, are not as simple as ther younger stuff because they are just another step in the evolution of NFG (and it is true that Jordan does not sound as nasally, which is a plus). It's funny to me because I feel like I have grown up with the band; I have matured as a person in the same way their music has matured as a band. I love these guys and this album is great. They are still and always will be my favorite band as long as they crank out more music like this.
