HipHop with Soul from a True Original
L*ron has been making incredible hip-hop tracks for years. Amazingly, he's never succumbed to gimmicks or fallen prey to surface trends in the genre. His lyrics have long been a source of inspiration to me and remind me more of poetry than rap - not because they are pretentious or lack flow (like some other emcees I won't name) but because they are creative, thoughtful and fluid, and somehow manage to stay true to what hip-hop is without falling into the lazy cliches most rappers cling to.
If you like West Coast underground like Aceyalone, Zion I, or the Living Legends - or emcees like Black Thought, Common, Mos Def, Big BOI and Andre, or Jean Grae - in other words, artists that push the boundaries of what hip-hop music can be, check out L*roneous. As far as I'm concerned, this guy is the best kept secret in hiphop. Peace.
