iTunes Review
The first project that Shpongle (the duo of Simon Posford and Raja Ram) ever attempted together was a 20-minute epic about the emotional effect of witnessing a solar eclipse, which says a bit about the level of their ambition, if not obsession. Despite being together since 1996, this 2005 album is only their third (and reportedly final) full-length release, a schedule that allowed the studio time necessary to create this sprawling and spectacular 20-song outpouring. Their first two albums are impressive and groundbreaking, but this album is truly a leap beyond. A wildly inventive mix of the familiar and the unexpected, it moves in countless different directions, sliding from downtempo to frenetic without losing the beat or the listener, as one idea dissolves into another with precision. Sounds range from mysterious, watery swirls to the driest synthesized scratches, with vocals, horns, a wide variety of textures, and Middle Eastern rhythms and melodies add to the psychedelic swirl. And because they understand dynamics so well, they never work an idea to death; they may want to drive you into a trance, but they also want your attention, and they achieve both brilliantly on Nothing Lasts… But Nothing is Lost. If you were moved by either Are You Shpongled? or Tales of the Inexpressible, this one will blow you away.

Awesome tracks from Sphongle!!! - how to create a seamless mix
The tunes are great and wonderfully arranged. Fine grooving. To address the space issue between songs... Actually in iTunes it is very easy to fix the "space" between songs. But only if playing the album as whole. Go to preferences, playback. Slide the cross fade all the way to 0 seconds. But you must keep the crossfade box checked! This will make the mix seamless. If you are listening to tunes randomly though its best to crossfade a sec or 2. - shine on
A perfect conclusion
Completing the trifecta, this Shpongle album is the third and final (hopefully not) masterpiece. No single element of the previous albums is focused on here, but rather elements from all previous music are present in small ways, such as the flutes and passing quotes of the late Terrence McKenna. Simon and Raja Ram have come together for their best music as of yet. Highly recommended!
How to prevent the skipping
I noticed a reviewer here had problems with the skipping. To prevent this you'll need to burn the songs onto a disc. But before you do, go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Burning and remove the gap between songs. Then burn the album and import the burned album as a whole (Advanced > Join CD Tracks). You should be all set then. I was pleasantly surprised to see the price iTunes is offering this at (compared to Amazon). What a deal.
