Great Album
A little country, folk, rock. The music makes me want to wander off into the country for some extended period of time, or go on a long road trip. Galveston Bay instills inside of me a desire to do something natural, No More California reminds me that I'm already doing what I'm supposed to.
Leatherbag picks up the Dylanesque motif
For those few who've known the music of Leatherbag over his prolific career (he's got way more EPs than the two on iTunes), this record is more in line with his obsession with Dylan's rock and roll albums of the 60s. But where others may take the sounds of "Highway 61" and "Blonde on Blonde" and make it sound pastiche, Leatherbag's writing style is so much more pathos-driven and modern that the sound backing these sound is simply scaffold. Personally I like the timbre of his voice more in the quiet setting (like on the other iTunes offering, "Love Me Like the Devil), however, "Nowhere Left to Run" is a spirited antidote to "Love Me..." Considering that they both came out the same year, they would've made for an interesting double record.
