iTunes Review
The Coen Brothers' zany Deep South odyssey O Brother, Where Art Thou? was one of 2000's cinematic delights. It was also the source of an outstanding soundtrack album featuring traditional country and gospel tunes, most newly recorded by producer T-Bone Burnett. Evoking the hardscrabble Mississippi landscape of the Great Depression are such haunting tracks as Alison Krauss' "Down to the River to Pray," Ralph Stanley's "O Death," and the Fairfield Four's "Lonesome Valley." The sensuous vocals of Krauss, Emmylou Harris, and Gillian Welch on "Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby" are a bewitching treat. Joining the veterans are newcomers like young blues artist Chris Thomas King ("Hard Time Killing Floor Blues"). The spirited version of "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys (actually Dan Tyminski of Krauss' band Union Station) became an unexpected radio favorite. O Brother, Where Art Thou? is truly essential listening for country fans and Americana enthusiasts alike.

Triumph
What a CD. There are no bum tracks, no disappointments. Genre after genre, tone after tone, and each one a gem. Particularly worthy of consideration are Hard Time Killing Floor Blues, Didn't Leave Nobody but the Baby, Down to the River to Pray and, of course, the unbelievable Man of Constant Sorrow (Soggy Bottom Boys, 4:17) Disappointingly, Apple has failed to add or secure Big Rock Candy Mountain and Po Lazarus - two of the quirkiest and most memorable tracks on the CD - a good argument for buying the plastic and importing the music.
it's all there
yeah, so, I understand when you guys wrote your reviews not all the songs were there, but they are now. YOU HEAR ME, CUSTOMERS? ALL THE SONGS ARE THERE NOW, THEY ADDED THEM! so ignore all the reviews stating contrariwise. btw, I own the actual CD, not off of iTunes but from a real-life CD store! yay for old-timey CD barns! If you want, you can go out and buy the CD, which comes with a cool case, a little booklet and everything. If not, this is just as good, with all the amazing music from the movie. buy it now, you browsing losers! And this is coming from an annoying, elitist, alternative rock indie fan, so trust me, this is good.
What A Fantastic Sound Track... But
As a die-hard blues, delta blues and folk listener, it was the music that made this movie fantastic rather than just good. It is very unfortunate, however, that the soundtrack provided on iTunes is only partial, as it is missing some great tracks. I guess I'll just go find the full version in a store somewhere.
