A Rare Find :D
Yes I will admit to discovering this band through Degrassi. But that's not the point... By the end of the episode I was not thinking about what will happen next on the show, but what was THAT one song playing in the background. Once I heard it I absolutely fell in love with the song. I must have watched the rerun 3 or more time before I was able to goggle the lyrics and find out the song was titled Hotblack. But my curiosity didn't stop there I then looked them up and previewed the rest of the album and once again felt like I was listening to something so different. I immediately decided to buy the album and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since!
Canada's Best Kept Secret
Listeners might initially draw comparisons to the British band Embrace but don't be fooled...this album is so much more. At times this album carries tones of sadness, desire, desperation, but at all times it is both beautiful and creative. The vocal qualities of the lead singer are not lost in the production of this album which is dead on perfect. The atmospheric melodies that accompany each song bring life and a heavenly quality that few artists are capabale of providing. Many bands try to encorporate an atmospheric vibe to their music but end up failing in the overall delivery. Where some bands have failed, Oceanship has delivered. Some personal favorites include "Don't Wear Me Out,"Go,"Mistake," and "Hotblack." This isn't just a brilliant debut album, but also a journey into the soul that will leave the listener full of emotion and longing for more.
Great Cd!
I am soo glad that iTunes finally listened and put Oceanship on here...If you like a unique sound then this is the Cd for you...Brad has a great, relaxing voice and Carly is awesome on the piano! Their songs just take you away! You won't be disappointed!
