INTO THE UNKNOWN

I LOVE YNGWIE AND ODYSSEY IS NOT HIS BEST EVER BUT ITS STILL AWESOME.THE VOCALS ON THIS ODYSSEY IS PRETTY GOOD.

Great, for an Yngwie record

Don't read the AMG review. Yngwie came out of the womb playing his balls off! His playing doesn't sound any different on Odyssey than it does on any other record. However, there are some really good hard rock songs on this record. It's still very "Sword & Sorcery", but that whats great about it. This is the only Yngwie record that's listenable from top to bottom.

Legit

Yngwie's addition of Joe Lyn Turner not only resulted in better lyrics and vocals, but better song structure. That is very evident on this record. The songs here are not just vehicles for YM's solos but actually cohesive and flowing (for the most part). Each a part of the whole album The smoothness comes from JLT's great voice. I wonder what he thought of YM's gigantic ego after work with the enormous head of Ritcie Blackmore?!

His largely instrumental debut album, Rising Force, immediately upped the ante for aspiring hard rock guitarists...
