Great Buy!

Sample the songs! The sound quality is not bad. A few of the songs actualy sound like records but it kinda sounds nostalgic and is not poor quality. A lot of the songs that are really popular were digitaly remastered and are of CD quality. All of this music is before my time. I always enjoyed listing to the Oldies station for feel good music. This collection has all those one hit wonders I never would have been able to find with my knowledge of this music. I consider this my best buy I ever found on iTunes. 120 GREAT SONGS for 20 bucks. Please sample a song before you blow this off due to the poor sound quality reveiew from the mastering engineer and audiophile, it is an awsome collection.

Not Worth the price at all!

I was looking for Music To Watch Girls By by the Bob Crewe Generation (original version), and it's finally here, but not worth it. I'm dissapointed as the recordings on this compilation sound like really bad needle drops (dubbed from the original records as opposed to the master tapes). With the exception of the re-recorded versions (that sound gutless next to the original single mixes), all of these are heavy with distortion, and really bad noise reduction techniques. As a mastering engineer and an audiophile, I can tell you for certain that this could have been a whole lot better than what's being offered. Even an untrained ear will hear the massive distortion on these tracks. It's that obvious. I don't know who the procurers for iTunes are, but they need to be replaced with someone that knows the difference between good copies and original versions, as opposed to the 'whatever' approach they do use. Nobody wants the re-recorded versions, we want the ORIGINALS, thank you, and dubbed from a good master source and not needle drops. Listen to a few of these and you'll see what I mean. They are horrible!

Remastered/re-recorded songs sound like MIDI tracks.

The sound quality overall is poor, but I could have accepted that. The remastered/re-recorded versions sound nothing like the originals. Instead, it sounds like they laid vocal tracks over MIDI/synth tracks. It's awful, and I was mad at myself for buying this album without listening to all the tracks. Don't make the same mistake.
