Several terrific songs
The sountrack of OSO (and why did it take so long to appear on iTunes!?) is a great homage to the sounds of Bollywood past and present, just as the art direction of the film pays tribute to those days. The two ballads Ajab Si and Main Agar Kahoon (the latter being a waltz for the most part) are both lovely and well sung but i prefer Ajab Si. Dhoom Taana is an enjoyable throwback number with its indigenous drumbeats. Dard e Disco is pumped up fun and delivered with gusto by the inimitable Sukhwinder Singh, while Deewangi Deewangi is totally infectious with its rhythms. Both make you want to get up and dance, and if you have seen the movie, you can't help but flash back to the shirtless SRK for Dard e Disco, and then of course the parade of film stars in Deewangi Deewangi (loved seeing Rekha and Dharmendra hamming it up with the next generation). Part of the pleasure of listening to Indian movie songs is recalling the picturization in your mind when you hear the song. The remixes are a bit too speeded up for my taste and the regular versions of the songs are considerably more enjoyable. I recommend the movie for those who are familiar with the conventions of Bollywood. If you've never seen Indian movies, much of the satire will be lost on you. If you are already a Bollywood fan, you'll find it reasonably entertaining. The first half is more pastiche with the second half being more plot-driven.
Awesome!
I love this album, and this movie. I think it's really cool how this album has both 80's style songs and modern Bollywood-style songs! This album attracts a wide audience, and the songs are sure to become classics! This album is worth the money!
Great album
i would definately get ajab si, main agar kahoon, dard-e-disco, and dewangi.
