Customer Reviews

Great song, can't wait for the full album.

Gary is of course from The Jayhawks, who put out one of the best albums of the early 90's, Hollywood Town Hall. Louris strayed from the countryish scene in later work after Mark Olson left the band, but returned to the roots of The Jayhawks in recent years. This song isn't a huge departure from familiar alt.country territory that founded The Jayhawks, though the sound is very of a chorus of backing vocals that add a gospel touch unheard in previous work.

It's about time...

Gary Louris has not exactly been idle since the last Jayhawks album (he has contributed to Golden Smog, for instance), but a solo debut has been long anticipated. While Mark Olson recorded with the Creekdippers and last year released his own solo album, and even Tim O' Reagan put out a solo disc, Louris has been content to contribute to the albums of others. While Jayhawks fans continue to long for a reunion (the brief Louris-Olson tour a few years back was a terrible tease), they can at least content themselves with the individual members spreading their wings on their own. Louris has finally decided to join the ranks, and not a moment too soon. This single bodes well for the album as a whole, showing a decidely rock-ish feel under the production of Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. Hopefully, the album, reviewed this week in EW, will follow soon.

ever since hearing Blue i've been a fan - it's great to hear this sound again - looking forward to the entire album
