GREAT STUFF, BUT MISSING A FEW KEY TRACKS (SEE UPDATE)

For those who don't know - this was recorded live in 2007 after the original lads decided to reunite for a European tour. If you're a fan, or new to OMD's music, this is a nice collection to pick up. Old school fans will remember stuff like "If you leave" and "Enola gay" like it was 1985 all over again. The band sounds great here and all is well. Here is one problem though: A few key songs such as "pandoras box", "sailing the seven seas" and "locomotion" are missing from the itunes version. (as well as another track "romance of the telescope") not sure why itunes is missing these songs, but if you're a serious fan (like me) i would recommend you buy the physical CD which has these songs. otherwise, if you're not nuts about getting everything - then this will do just fine EDIT: The U.S. version of the CD is also missing the 4 songs (not the European version) BUT you get the 4 songs free from the record company itself, which is what I did after I wrote to the company. If you buy the physical you will get all the songs in total.

Great promise but...

This is one of those typical live albums that misses the point of what a live album should be. If I wanted to listen to the original album of songs, I would do just that. While the sound mix is good, it fails in the way that a lot of live albums do. Most of the crowd reaction is muted and mixed out. This is what should make a live album exciting. There is great crowd response at the end of all the tracks but as soon as the next song starts, the crowd is immediately muted. Very un-natural and it seriously detracts from what the show really sounded like. The band did great. Andy's voice is very hit and miss but then again, if you've ever seen OMD live then you would know how much he is jumping and dancing around so this is very forgivable, Paul does a fantastic job and it leaves you wondering how they got all those great old sounds from the Emulators and Mellotrons... Very cool. It's also very cool to hear the whole band back together. Maybe something more in the future? As far as the missing tracks, ya, I'm very pissed about that. There is a sticker on the CD that says to e-mail Eagle records but so far, no response. Buy it for the 13 tracks. Not the 17 the CD lists. WTF? All in all, a GREAT CD for OMD fans but again, it falls short due to the nasty crowd edits. Why not let a live recording sound live?

Best Band ever

OMD is the best band in the world, I have not change the order of my favorite bands since 1987, I just add the violent femmes in 1990. 1) OMD 2) Alphaville 3) Violent femmes 4) Pulp 5) Kiss 6) The Ramones 7) Stone temple pilots 8) Duran Duran 9) Bush 10) Pearl Jam Enjoy this music, this is a dream for all fans around the world. Thanks OMD for make my life a pleasure o living it.
