Awesome compendium of Wynne's spiritual offerings!
by
BRECKEN SWARTZ
Just like Wynne Paris himself, this fantastic compilation dips deep into many traditions to draw out the spiritual nectar. This excellent sampler of Wynne's work reveals his many talents as a composer, singer, producer, and artist. I feel happy to have had the chance to hear many of these songs live with Wynne in person, and am grateful to have this sparkling gem to groove with at home as well. :)

Amazing! Not just for the yoga crowd.
This album has been on my top ten for a while now. Wynne has a unique style that blends ethereality with musicianship. Yoga audiences have long since caught onto Wynne's rhythms. I would classify this album as World Music and less new age.
Wynne's personal influences can be heard throughout the album- espcially in 'Dancing Shiva' which is reminiscent of Peter Gabriel's and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's 'Signal to Noise'. Also, listen for beats that are reminiscent of Sting.
This album is too unique to describe - but if you are a fan of Peter Gabriel's (late 1980's and early 1990's) contribution to world music, I would give this album a listen.

Like all of Wynne's projects, Omspun is as innovative as it is pleasurable to listen to. Never one to box himself in to one particular type of music, Wynne seamlessly weaves together rock, jazz, and traditional Eastern genres into a sound that is uniquely his own. Appropriately, he has a great group of musicians from varied musical backgrounds joining him, including Rick Allen from Def Leppard and J.T. Thomas of Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. While many would call it World Music I would suggest that you toss out your preconceived notions of what World Music is. Wynne Paris is redefining the genre, or maybe creating his own. So if you're looking for something fresh, original, and yet deeply spiritual, you need to check out Omspun and his earlier releases. You won't be sorry.
