On the Moon is an absolute blast! I love the diversity of this band. They truly defy categorization, mixing punk with mellow imaginative tunes and sci-fi romance. Each song is like ear candy. "I Gave Birth to a Lizard" begins the journey and takes off like a rocket. Then you swerve into a bouncy childhood imaginative world "Under the Zoo." "I'm a Lady" is full of sexy-lazy rock, fun and humor. What would happen if the Monkees met up with a jam-band? I'm pretty sure they'd end up at the "Steak House By the Funeral Home." Do ya dig a little spaghetti-western? "Julio" "8 Feet Tall" and "Pray that When I Die (there's pretty women)" give a nice tip of the dusty cowboy hat. It's hard to pick a favorite song because they are all so much fun! Like a carnival, Hippie Cream knows when to keep the pace fast and furious and when to let the listener sit back and enjoy the ride, whether its psychedelic mind-candy that's more drifty like "Guardian Angel Laid an Egg" or the title song, "On the Moon." "Barrel in the Sun" has some delicious lyrics like "lost unspoken dreams." "Gabe and Thoran" is a bouncy mellow treat. "Life is Long" moves with beauty and passion, and "Return of the Cab" neatly wraps up the trip. Hope you enjoy the ride!
