"On the Road" to Success!
61 North's debut effort is an eclectic mix of roots-inspired blues (Slavedriver), lively jams (Funk You), and driving rock (Satisfy Your Weakness) that will appeal to both the young and "slightly-older-than" young. Take that recipe, and infuse it with a few southern fried guitar licks (Breaker's Point, Blackwater), and you have a beautifully crafted piece of art (not to mention the album's intricate hand-painted cover). The heavier tunes mix crunchy Black Crowes'-style guitar riffs with a Chili Pepper-caliber rhythm section; yet the group shows maturity in knowing when to tone down the amps (Find Some Love), still sparing no expense with guitar solos (one in nearly every song)! These elements (along with a few other surprises), make "On the Road" a display of talent, from a young band, that is sure to intrigue the ears.
Great music
I love this CD-- truly great music. Each track builds on the next and each sounds different from the last. Looking forward to more from 61 North.
