Album Review

Saving Jane had a hit single on a major label before finding themselves back in indieland for their third album, a defiant and crunchy celebration of hard-rocking guitars and a sort of post-post-feminist irritability. Singer and chief songwriter Marti Dodson has a chip on her shoulder about exploitative images of half-naked women in pop music marketing, and if her critique is sometimes a bit addled ("Raise your hand if the shape of your hips/Don't compare to the shape of your mind"), it's also sometimes absolutely perfect ("You don't even stand a chance/I'm not taking off my pants"). And about halfway through the album, she shows another card: on "Grace," she outlines her personal religious conversion in startlingly personal detail. Ultimately, though, One Girl Revolution is less about cultural critique or Christian evangelism than it is about big, dense guitars and sharp hooks: "Loser," "Let Me Down Easy," and the irresistibly anthemic "Better Day" are all brilliant examples of timeless guitar rock. Dodson needs to tighten up her lyrics a bit, but nothing needs to change about her band's gutsy sound and her own powerful voice.

This is real music

I guarantee this album will be in the top ten best selling CDs on iTunes within the next week or two. They are so, so, sooooooo good! Marti Dodson is such an amazing lyracist and singer, and the band members are awesome too! This album is crazy good, even better than their last one which would be so hard to do. Buy this album, you will not regret it!!!!!

One Girl Revolution is truly wonderful. I'm eagerly awaiting SJ's next album! What I Didn't Say- Beautiful and catchy. It communicates what everyone wants to say but is to afraid to say. 5/5 Far from Home- No Saving Jane album is complete without a song like this. 3/5 Ohio- Country-pop! Not exactly Carrie Underwood competition but sweet. 5/5

I love this album! The lyrics are personal and deep and the melodies are catchy. It's not like some other artists who are putting out meaningless songs. Buy this album and you won't regret it!!!

What started out as simply a campfire song between strangers soon turned into a musical connection in the form of the Columbus, OH-based alternative pop/rock group Saving Jane. It was at this bonfire that vocalist Marti Dodson (then a junior at Ohio State University) and rhythm guitarist Pat Buzzard first met and subsequently became friends.
