Most Beautiful
I am yet again amazed by David's amazing voice and talent. What stikes me as amazing with this album is that he did all the vocals, even the backup and what sounded like choir vocals, for the excpetion of One King, which was a duet with one of the Isaacs girls, and Away In A Manger which has a children choir in it. I've seen DP in concert many times and he's very sincere, not some guy who thinks he's a big shot: and this album brings the true meaning of Christmas across in a sincere yet new and fresh way. If iTunes had the rating, it would be 10 stars for me all the way!
Musical Masterpiece
I have this cd and it is truly a musical masterpiece. With a couple of exceptions, David Phelps does all the vocals on this cd, including the background vocals. The tight harmony is just beautiful. If you want to be inspired and blessed by a cd that truly expresses the meaning of the Christmas season, buy this cd.
A Gifted Vocalist Shines in Outstanding Arrangements
The first thing you notice when listening to One Wintry Night is Phelps's remarkable vocal abilities. The man can sing and do anything with his voice—this is truly the human voice as an instrument. Second, the arrangements of these songs showcase the performance perfectly. Check out the first track, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" for an example. "The Singer" features vintage Phelps, with creative lyrics and dramatic arrangement. The other tracks are equally great, making this a Christmas album you'll want to listen to year-round.
