By opening their third studio album with the fist-pumping "Wasteland," Trapt set the stage for a frenzy of catchy, emotional anthems that further blur the line between post grunge's melodious laments and alt-metal's pummeling, soaring serenades. Anyone who has ever had to abruptly face the heart crushing reality of a former lover moving on should be able to identify with the burning urgency pouring from "Who's Going Home With You Tonight" where Chris Brown's voice trembles with the realistic pain of knowing that in a few hours his ex-girlfriend will be waking up in the arms of another man. Trapt's natural versatility is showcased on "Forget About The Rain," a detour into earthy and organic songwriting that implements the use of a bouncy and danceable drum beat holding up classic rock guitar tones and the kind of Velcro-catchy melodies that can take residence in your head for days on end. "Cover Up," with its dark leaden ambiance, rumbling rhythms, and guitars so loud they could peel the paint off walls, makes it easy to understand why the band wanted to work with producer Garth Atreyu, who has also given his Midas touch to bands like Rage Against The Machine and L7.

I believe it's our best work yet...

Some people have expressed anger at the songs being less aggressive or too melodic or slow. This album is supposed to represent the dynamic of pleasure and pain, love and hate, and happiness and sadness. I would say half the album is more aggressive and half the album is less aggressive. There are also a bunch of songs that sit nicely in the middle. I'm sorry boys and girls if you wanted me to be "headstrong" my whole life and tell you all to "stand up" every album. Well, we as people grow. We go through changes. I can also say that I am not as angry as I once was, at the world or other people, haha. The band trapt is in a great place right now and we thank all of you who have embraced this new record, as there are many more of you than those who are disappointed in the lack of "heavy and aggressive" songs. There are no doubt "heavy songs" on the album, but I can agree and say "Someone in Control" was much heavier. We wanted to do it differently this time. We wanted to do songs that we have never done before. We never had pieces of reggae or ballads in any of our previous work and wanted to explore that on this album. I feel we did a good job of throwing all of our favorite styles of music into this record. I also want to say that the lyrics tell a story of what I have learned about life and what I think is important, having gone through my fair share of ups and downs in the past two years. Still Amazing, but Not Their Best

I've been an avid trapt fan since day one. I've memorized every single word to every single song that they've written; you could say that I'm a fan. I've been counting down the days for this cd's release and I really like what I hear. The sound is drastically different, as the band has adapted a new guitarist. Before, Trapt's sound was heavier. This cd gives off a softer, more alternative vibe. Selfishly, I would prefer more more metal, but Chris writes what he's feeling, and after reading his blogs and lyrical explinations, I can tell that he's made a lot of postive changes in his life that have essentially come through in the sound of the band. This cd is definetly worth your money, and is a truly beautiful collection of songs. Every song will still inspire me, and I will no doubt memorize all of the new words. Make sure to check out Black Rose, its my personal favorite. Great job guys!

What Happened?

To the people saying this is just like their old stuff and how their second album was bad are the guys who only liked the mellow songs like stories and echo. If you liked the heavier tracks like Still frame, Disconnected, Stand up, and Still frame you're going to be heavily dissapointed with this album. Only a few songs keep the heavy lyrics and rythm, the rest of the album is so mellow that I think i'm falling asleep and listening to Coldplay. So if you liked their heavier songs you're find yourself asking...what happened?

School chums Chris Brown and Peter Charell absorbed the heavy rock sound of Korn, Soundgarden, and Metallica during the mid-'90s. Both were music geeks and naturally flirted with the idea of getting a group together. Casual gigs in school motivated them even more, leaving Brown and Charell to design what would become Trapt.
