Album Review

Given the phenomenal success of Britney Spears' debut, ...Baby One More Time, it should come as no surprise that its sequel offers more of the same. After all, she gives away the plot with the ingenious title of her second album, Oops!...I Did It Again, essentially admitting that the record is more of the same. It has the same combination of sweetly sentimental ballads and endearingly gaudy dance-pop that made One More Time. Fortunately, she and her production team not only have a stronger overall set of songs this time, but they also occasionally get carried away with the same bewildering magpie aesthetic that made the first album's "Sodapop" — a combination of bubblegum, urban soul, and raga — a gonzo teen pop classic. It doesn't happen all that often — the clenched-funk revision of the Stones' deathless "Satisfaction" is the most obvious example — but it helps give the album character apart from the well-crafted dance-pop and ballads that serve as its heart. In the end, it's what makes this an entertaining, satisfying listen.

I miss the old britney

I was the biggest fan of britney spears when I was younger, I own all of her old CD's. I do like her new song, Gimme More, but I miss the teen pop genre, remeber when she was cute and sweet now she is the total opposite. I give this album a 5 because I love this CD, but i am tired of her bad behavior. Hit yes if you think Britney should go back to her old ways and start making GOOD music (and decissions) again! We miss u Britney!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Things need to rewind a bit...

Jeez... ok we all used to listen to her and watch her everyday on trl back when we were in like 4 th and 5th grade. But what happened? I read all of the reviews and thats what prmpted me to wite this. I hope she goes and reads all these damn things for the hell of it, bc she needs to turn her life around. She is now a crack-head, who is in denial of all the bad around her. Someone needs to give her a copy of Oops...I did it again and slap her in the face and make her listen to the cd. Maybe that will turn her around. The second album is the best, and it is the tru britney. I think she just needs a reminder. hit yes if u agree.

Don't you miss this?

I mean, seriously. Who doesn't miss the old Britney Spears? She used to be so amazing, before she went crazy... I miss the old Britney Spears. The songs on this album are great... I always listen to them. Especially "Lucky"... Britney... Come baaaaack!

Biography

Born: December, 1981 in Kentwood, LA

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '90s, '00s

More than any other single artist, Britney Spears was the driving force behind the return of teen pop in the late '90s. The blockbuster success of the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys certainly paved the way for her own commercial breakthrough, but Spears didn't just become a star — she was a bona fide pop phenomenon. Not only did she sell millions of records, she was a media fixture regardless of what she was (or wasn't) doing; among female singers of the era (many of whom followed in her footsteps),...
