Not Normally My Cup of Tea
I tend to be a "purist" when it comes to musical genres. This, though, is an exciting combination of styles. AND, and this is the real reason behind this review: thank you, thank you, thank you for listing the composers names.
I hate the flute BUT ...
This music is so captivating and entrancing I even forgave the flute its irritatingly high tones which usually send me over the edge. Jimmy Galway's joie de vivre really shines in these pieces. He describes his collaboration with Jorge Martinez as "the greatest experience of my life" and it certainly comes through loud and clear.
Finally Galway... Took You Long Enough!!!
Galway finally played Claude Bolling! Also I really and mean I finally am starting to actually respect Galway because in this he doesn't use his over-emphasized vibrato which usually makes me want to throw any normal CD of his out the window (probably because Bolling writes so well Galway doesn't have a chance to use it). I think I could listen to this but still I shall hate forever Galway's vibrato.
