Despite The Other Boleyn Girl's 16th century milieu, composer Paul Cantelon's score bolsters its traditional chamber arrangements with subtle but ultra-contemporary electronic elements. Its seemingly anachronistic contradictions notwithstanding, the music succeeds by championing timeless virtues like drama, romance, and tragedy. Paired with the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Cantelon achieves an effective balance between classical tradition and cinematic necessity, weaving a rich tapestry of themes and motifs that articulate in full the film's narrative complexity. Also noteworthy is the music's uncommon subtlety: time and again, Cantelon resists cheap theatrics, guaranteeing maximum impact when the emotional climax finally does arrive.

saw this movie today, LOVED it. soooo glad iTunes has this CD. beautiful and poetic music, by a more-or-less unheard of composer. i really really love it. thank you iTunes

Lyrical & romantic

This composer is new to me, but he's making a great first impression with this score. It's very poetic and feels like it drips romanticism, but in a subtle way. Some of the quieter cues remind me of "Hole in the Paper Sky" and some of the bigger orchestrations remind me of the first "Elizabeth" movie, and some of the earlier works of Patrick Doyle or Alexandre Desplat. I haven't seen this movie yet, but the music makes me want to. It's a very good standalone score.

Dramatic & Passionate

The score is absolutely perfect for The Other Boleyn Girl. The music flows is fluently and flawlessly with the story.The music itself should help emphasize and explain the movie and this score does it immaculately. It superbly grasps captures every idea of emotion that is to be felt in the movie and is the emotion's voice. Throughout the movie no matter what there is always a lingering feeling of melancholy air in the songs because that's how you feel in the movie.But in the songs there is that romantic feel you can't do without.In a way they speak life with the ups and downs we all know.
