A great classic from a true artist
Nicola Conte embodies Nujazz. Change that -- he personifies Jazz. He is a skilled virtuoso who doesn't record albums very often, but when he does, they become instant classic.
The work presented in this two CD set is a remastered version of his 2004 albums that saw a departure from a more contemporary style of nujazz/nubossa he re-invented in the late 90s. Other directions focuses more on jazz's more traditional leanings.
CD 2 is a never-before-released compilation of out-takes and B-sides.

Italian DJ/producer Nicola Conte's loungey brand of acid jazz relies extensively on bossa nova, but is also heavily influenced by the swinging soundtracks of Italian films in the '60s and '70s, plus touches of ethnic music and easy listening kitsch reminiscent of Japan's Pizzicato Five.
