Crushing, hard-hitting Industrial !! Super highly recommended!!!
Unit:187's fourth studio album is finally here and it doesn't disappoint. Featuring 10 solid hard-hitting industrial metal tracks that sonically rip the speakers out of your iPod. Sick Obsession kicks the album off in typical riffing fashion, characteristic of peers 16Volt or Chemlab, with haunting vocals and Chris Peterson's trademark FLA noise-scapes and production. The club friendly Rolling Vengeance (named after the 80's b-movie) has a chorus hook that you'll be humming for weeks - "Get them before they Get You!". Lethal injection is where the album verges on something Skinny Puppy would write, and Ken "Hiwatt" Marshall's mixing is most evident on this track - another club classic in the making. Expect big things this year from Unit:187, as "Out for Blood" resets the landscape of what industrial metal can be once again.
Your next Adrenaline Injection
This album finds several rare sweet spots for industrial music, resulting in one huge adrenaline injection. Vocals sound invitingly sinister, not ridiculously strained or affected. Guitar is heavy but not too metal sounding, and it kicks the electronics in the way that FLA and Skinny Puppy are able to, but it's not overdone like Ministry. This is an amazingly well put together industrial album that I rank with some my favorites (among them Noise Unit "Voyeur" also with Chris Peterson). Tracks 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9 bring you pure angry speed bliss, guaranteed to make you stronger, faster, and more confident. Sounds like a drug? Well, it's like that, for your ears. Front Line Assembly is amazing (especially with Peterson). OUT FOR BLOOD by UNIT 187 is more guitar oriented than what I'm used to from FLA or other industrial music, but it really works... HARD! Try it. But don't be surprised if you get hooked on this "Guilty Pleasure"...
