Customer Reviews

This is REAL punk rock.

Minor Threat is so punk rock they don't have to have mohawks and safety pins in their faces to prove it. Brian Baker ended up in a band called Junkyard or something like that, a total glam metal band. And when people get all political about this album, and gossipy, like "I heard Ian McKaye drank a beer." I used to get mad, but now I find it hilarious because people actually care (like I used to.) And now we all know it's all about the music. And this is music at it's finest. Don't get me wrong, I know the difference between Jazz and mushroom jazz. And I don't like ski video music. But this stuff rocks harder than anything. Everyone should have this album. Everyone should save a u.s. soldier by killing an SUV. whatever. Politics. Use your head. Buy this album. Buy this album. Buy this album.

Years Active: '80s

Minor Threat was the definitive Washington, D.C., hardcore punk band, setting the style for the straight-edge punk movement of the early '80s. Led by vocalist Ian MacKaye, the band was staunchly independent and fiercely sober. Through their songs, the group rejected drugs and alcohol, espoused anti-establishment politics, and led a call for self-awareness. Every song was fast, sharp, and lethal, often clocking in at just around a minute. Their speed and fury often hid their fairly catchy melodies,...
