My only wish is that more people knew about him!
In my opinion, Tommy Walker is an under-publicized, incredibly talented treasure to the church. To me, his gift can be summed up very simply: He writes biblical, powerful songs that people love to sing and musicians love to play. This album is no exception to that rule, as it is just full of great songs! Despite being a studio album, he has wisely chosen to avoid the overproduction that plagues most "worship projects", and keeps the feeling that you are in his church with him and his band, worshiping with all of your heart! Several songs stand out for me: "Now is the Time" is a great call to worship song, and is just a blast to sing and play. "I'm So Glad" is also an fun, up-tempo tune about our role in spreading Jesus' love into the world that will have you moving when you hear it. "Find Me Faithful" is a heartfelt song that is truly gospel-based and authentic. My favorite work on the whole album, however, is "Nearer". What an incredible song, and what an amazing message! My wife and I were moved to tears the first time we heard it, and it has been playing in my head ever since I got the album.
Before you wonder, I don't go to his church, don't know him personally, and have no motivation to write this review other than to let people know that this is one gifted worship leader that has released a really terrific album. My only wish is that more people knew about him! You will NOT be sorry to get this one!
Refreshing Church Music!!!
This album is all Tommy, and it's the Tommy we know and love. It's a genuine expression of love. Tommy Walker is in love with his savior, and once again, it is shown in this album. I was really moved by find me faithful. Wow...what beautiful progressions. Thank you Tommy for another great worship project. You truly are amazing! Brandon
