Customer Reviews

top debut album from UK dance maverick

Apart from some great reviews in the mainstream UK dance mags, this guy seems to be tragically overlooked - missed out on by the blogosphere and our overall US music scene alike. His single releases to date, pulled together here along with a bunch of other tracks to make a coherent yet varied debut album set, should by now have set him up alongside MSTRKRFT, Justice and 2ManyDJs. But then maybe IDC is all the better for staying under the radar whilst numerous lesser talents of the contemporary dance scene are championed from all quarters - a lot of that is possibly down to his releases being on the independent UK dance label Corsair, whilst so many of the "here today - gone later today" flavour of the month blog hypes are the product of major label throwing-against-the-wall sessions and seeing what, if anything, sticks. The trio of singles 'Stomp', 'Akai Elvis' and 'Modern Touch' mix sick dancefloor beats with slick pop nuances, and stand-out album tracks such as 'Cutie' and opener 'Slowride' hint at krautrock, Chemcial Brothers, stadium rock and Jesus and Mary Chain feedback all wrapped up in a unique mix. The best decription should really be left to UK music bible NME which called IDC "dancefloor rock'n'roll" and I can't think of a better way to encapsulate the influences, ingredients and exposition of the tracks on this album. Well worth your time.
